Privacy Policy

The Executive Director shall be responsible for the protection of personal information held by the WQLC.

In the event of a confidentiality incident involving personal information, the Executive Director will:

• Take reasonable measures to reduce the risk of injury being caused to the persons concerned, and prevent new incidents of the same nature from occurring.

• Notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the person concerned.

• Keep a register of confidentiality incidents, of which a copy must be sent to the Commission at its request.

The WQLC will respect all regulations contained within Law 25 (Quebec), regarding personal information and privacy, including the process for privacy impact assessments and communication of personal information. 

The WQLC will notify the commission before carrying out an identity verification or confirmation by using biometric characteristics or measurements.

 

Personal information

Free and informed written consent must be gained to collect, communicate and use personal information of any Board member, employee, volunteer, or learner of the WQLC.

For anyone under 18 years of age, written consent must be given from their parent or legal guardian. 

Personal information about employees, volunteers, Board members, and learners shall be kept secure, either in a locked area of the WQLC office, or in a password-protected electronic database.

Personal information about employees, volunteers, Board members, and learners shall be kept private and only used for appropriate purposes, such as:

• Statistical information for funders;

• Reporting requirements mandated by the government of Quebec;

• Employment records, performance evaluations, and related information;

Private information no longer required will be destroyed immediately.

Information may not be communicated to organizations or persons outside the province of Quebec, unless a privacy impact assessment has been satisfactorily concluded.

All Board members, employees, volunteers, and learners of the WQLC have the right of de-indexation, which means the cessation of dissemination of their personal information if this dissemination causes them injury or contravenes the law or court order.

All Board members, employees, volunteers and learners have the right to request their personal information held by the WQLC.

Any complaints about privacy can be made to the Executive Director, who will address the complaint directly and without delay.
